Not Quite Ready for Winter

Against a backdrop of golden leaves
on half empty branches the first snowfall
blew across the windows.

Flakes like powdered sugar
filling the air of the gray sky.

The tapestry of colors of fall
replaced by the wintry horizon.

Birds and squirrels hiding and
people take cover in the
warmth of their homes.

Seasonal changes bringing seasonal changes
as each envelops the landscape.

One more tomorrow in a
sea of tomorrows.

Watching the snow fall and
melt on the grass
not quite ready for winter.
